Speaker

Stephen Thiessen

Trained at Capernwray Harbour Bible School for two years, Stephen sought to discover the “truth” -Jesus Christ Himself, the God of the Bible and Eternity. This training began a life-changing journey of learning, growing and serving effectively in the Torchbearer ministry in Canada for nearly 20 years in various roles.

God continues to effectively use, equip, and keep Stephen as he trusts in the Lord, however small or big the task at hand. Stephen operates a sustainably grown food farm on Vancouver Island with his wife and five children while pastoring a growing church congregation on Gabriola Island. Stephen’s journey continues to be that of a servant seeing God bring hope to the hopeless, healing to the sick and wholeness to broken lives as the Gospel is lived out and proclaimed.

Topic

Gospel of John

Time and again, people came to Jesus with physical ailments, wishing to be healed. Sick, blind, hungry, and hurting people came to have their needs met by Him. When Jesus would help and heal those that came in faith, He always did more than fix their ailment. Those whom Jesus healed spoke of the Father’s will and who He, as the Saviour, revealed Himself to be; not just a physical deliverer but, more importantly, a spiritual LIFE giver.

In John’s Gospel, “signs” is used more than ten times to describe Jesus’ actions. This word literally means “attesting miracles.” During our time together, we will look at the attesting life of Jesus. He came to lead the lost, give sight to the spiritually blind, quench those thirsting for righteousness, feed the hungry, and bring LIFE to the dead and despairing, a work that continues today by His Holy presence in a broken world.
