Holiday Bible Weeks – Week 1

July 4 – 9, 2021

Speaker

Ken Nettleton

Ken and his wife Kimberley have served at New Life Church in Duncan, BC since 2014.  Ken is the Lead Pastor having previously pastored in Calgary, Kamloops, and Vancouver.  Ken also serves as a reservist Padre with the Canadian Forces.  Leading small groups and helping couples navigate married life are some of Ken & Kimberley’s shared joys as well as walking in the woods with their dog Basil, visiting friends, gardening, reading, and sailing their small boat in Maple Bay. They have two grown children – both graduates of a Torchbearer Bible School – and one grandson.

Topic

1 & 2 Peter

Peter, a wonderful and colourful Bible character!  A “natural leader” who seemed to command the respect of his fellow disciples.  Through Christ’s Indwelling Resurrection Life, he becomes one of the most powerfully influential persons of spiritual authority in the early church… just as Jesus said.  His painful experience of denying Jesus and then being restored, humbled him, providing the Church a leader under Christ’s authority.

Peter’s letters clearly exhibit his understanding of servanthood and commitment to Christ’s Lordship and Mission.  Whilst embracing suffering for his Master, he humbly put others before himself, stayed away from the limelight and was alert to the enemy’s tactics through to the end!
